Homework tonight is spelling practice.  This week's words are pretty tough so encourage your child to spend some time practicing.

This morning we practiced multiplication, division, and even some geometry at various stations.  We also read a little more about local government particularly services and taxes.  We got our pictures taken as well.

This afternoon we were glad Mrs. Distel came in and led us in an Easter craft.  Thanks, Mrs. Distel!  We ended the day with a reading comprehension test.

Don't forget tomorrow is our Friday.

Homework tonight is a grammar page of adjectives.  Today we learned to add -er to adjectives when comparing two things and to add -est when comparing three or more things.

For math we worked problems where both factors had zeros like 40 x 70 = 2800.  We discovered that the product will have the same number of zeros as the factors.  In social studies we started reading about local governments and talked about representatives.

This afternoon we worked on adjectives, as mentioned above, and read a story from our reading books called "Thunder Cake."

We have classroom photos tomorrow, so please see the order envelope that was sent home today.

Homework tonight is spelling in preparation for tomorrow's final test.  This week's words are pretty difficult and may require some extra practice.

Fireman Pat came today and took the students out to the EDITH trailer.  Ask your child what he/she learned about fire safety.

Tomorrow's Friday!

Homework tonight is a grammar page of adjectives.  This is still a pretty new skill so some help may be required.

This morning we practiced the cursive letters "x" and "g", then we extended our multiplication facts by doing equations like 600 x 4= 2400 and 210/7= 30.  We learned that the trick is to find the basic fact and then take care of the zeros.

This afternoon we finished up a writing test and a story from our reading book.

The EDITH trailer will be here tomorrow morning for students to learn about fire safety in their homes.

Homework tonight is a math page.  We've been learning about using parentheses in math equations.  We've learned that whatever is in the parentheses should be done first.

We started a writing test this afternoon using the prompt:  I'm really looking forward to spring.  We brainstormed ideas and started writing in our power boxes to get our thoughts organized.  We ended the day by beginning a story in our reading books called "Sam and the Lucky Money."  Ask your child what the story is about.

Have a good night!

Homework tonight is to do the paragraph that was optional on last night's homework.  In case your child has misplaced it here is the prompt :

Write about a time you planned something really fun.  Use adjectives to make your descriptions more interesting.  Underline each adjective and article when you are done.

It's fine to do the writing on another piece of paper rather than the back on last night's homework page.

Fireman Pat spoke to us today about smoke detectors (I can get you a free one if you need one), bike helmets, and seat belts.  He also gave us a lot of cool stuff.

Ask your child what happened in our science experiment today.  See it they can remember how surface area affects evaporation.

Have a good night.
