No homework tonight. We're tested out!
Homework tonight is a grammar page on irregular nouns.
We started the morning reading the Bill of Rights and discussing our rights and responsibilities as U.S. citizens. We ended the morning by taking a pretty long math test on geometry.
This afternoon we went to a Read to Feed assembly and heard how each class spent its money and saw slides of Mrs. Wyatt's trip to Haiti. When we got back to the classroom we did some reading and ended the day working on our writing test.
Tomorrow we'll take a grammar test.
Homework tonight is a math page. Students should cut out the shape, assemble it, and then answer the questions. Tomorrow we're going to take a test on geometry.
We started talking about rights and responsibilities in social studies. Tomorrow we'll talk about the Bill of Rights and discuss many of the rights listed.
This afternoon we decided to purchase a sheep and chicks for a family in poverty through Read to Feed. Thanks to everyone who participated and for raising $140! We did some more of our reading test and then started our writing test. Our writing prompt was to tell the ways you're like and different from someone in your family. We just did the power boxes today and tomorrow will work on the final draft.
Beware! Four students went home today with fevers. The cold and flu season is upon us. Wash those hands!
No spelling this week because we reached the end of Unit 3. We'll be taking reading, grammar, and writing tests this week instead. So, homework tonight is a math page of three dimensional objects. We learned all about them in our lesson today.
For science we started two experiments to learn about evaporation. By the end of the week we'll know the affect temperature has on evaporation rate. Ask your child about the two experiments.
This afternoon we took a reading test and practiced the "d" and "c" in cursive.
Have a good night.
Homework tonight is spelling practice. We'll have our final spelling test tomorrow morning before we leave on our mini field trip.
Don't forget tomorrow morning we'll be busing up to Riverside High School to hear the Spokane Symphony perform. We'll be back before lunch so students do not need any special arrangements for lunch.
We're looking forward to an exciting Friday.

This morning we made some homemade protractors and learned to measure angles. We also started a new social studies chapter on government.
This afternoon we took a spelling pretest, discussed the reading skill of generalizing, and read a story from our reading book.
Thanks for getting all the field trip permission slips back on time. Don't forget the Read to Feed donations are due on Friday. A collection envelope went home with your child today.
Homework tonight is a grammar page on verb tenses. We went over the page in class, so it shouldn't be too hard.
We learned about polygons in math. We built several and talked about the difference between regular and irregular ones. Ask your child if he/she remembers the difference.
We also got some water in vials and syringes and we'll find out tomorrow what happens when it freezes.
This afternoon we graded our pet paragraphs and took a reading comprehension test.
Tomorrow's the big day. Don't forget your Valentines.
Homework tonight is practicing the names of the quadrangles we built in class this morning. We also took a social studies test.
This afternoon we had a great time of art with Mrs. Distel. The painted frames look fantastic.

Don't forget to send back the field trip permission forms by Wednesday.
Homework tonight is spelling practice. Book orders are also due tomorrow.
For math we built triangles out of straws and twist-ties. We practiced identifying angles greater than and less than right angles. We also had fun discovering why cold water sinks and hot water floats. Ask your child how we discovered that and why it is true (see if they mention the word "density").
This afternoon we read another Washington Choice book and started our final drafts in writing.
Homework tonight is a grammar page of verb tenses. We discussed it only a little in class, so I'll go over it in more detail in the morning. Don't let anyone shed a tears over it tonight.
We began drawing angles this morning in math. We pointed out the vertex and sides and also discussed clockwise and counterclockwise turns.
This afternoon we judged a couple of Washington Choice Books and worked on our writing. We ended the day by taking a reading comprehension test.
I sent new book orders home yesterday. Our goal is to turn them in by Friday, but let me know if you need more time.
Have a good evening.
I was hoping to get back to a normal routine this week, but with the snow falling like crazy I'm afraid it won't be normal. (Tomorrow is a late start so it won't be normal anyway.) Homework tonight is spelling practice. Here's this week's words:
