After our spelling test tomorrow morning, we'll be heading up to Riverside to the Petting Zoo. When we get back we hope to start the Chess Tournament.

We heard some more great biography reports today. We have more tomorrow and don't forget the third grade concert at 10:45 tomorrow morning.
Thanks to all of you who have volunteered to send items for our ice cream sundae celebration next Thursday. It looks like we're a little short on cherries, peanuts, and bananas if you'd still like to help us out.

We started our oral biography reports this afternoon and are looking forward to more tomorrow. We also enjoyed seeing the Reptile Man this morning and his various scaled creatures. Don't forget his show tonight at 7:00.

Look of two important notes in your child's backpack. One is a letter begging for items to make our Ice Cream Sundaes on June 7 (you can also come in and sling some ice cream) and a speaking schedule for biography reports. Please let me know if the scheduled time doesn't work for you.
Don't forget our Track Meet is tomorrow morning up at Riverside. I believe it starts around 9:00.

We started the final draft of our biography essays and tomorrow we'll talk about the oral presentations as well. Ask your child how their essay is going.

Tomorrow we'll spend some time revising and editing our biography essays. Look for note cards to come home on Thursday in preparation of our speeches.

We wrote another paragraph for our biography reports and took the comprehension test in Gates.

Homework tonight is still more cursive! (We've got to finish up before the year ends)
We learned about capacity in math and did the vocabulary portion the Gates test. We also took a social studies test and worked on the second paragraph of our biography reports. We wrote about the accomplishments/successes of our famous person. Ask your child what he/she wrote. Tomorrow we'll be writing about the famous person's failures/weaknesses.
Look for the Field Trip letter I sent home tonight and please send in the permission form as soon as possible.

Look for a letter concerning our biography reports. We'll be doing the oral presentations on the 29-31. We'll let you know the schedule of presenters as we get closer to those dates.
We had a lot of fun discovering conductors and insulators during science this morning. Ask your child how we discovered which was which.
We ended the day doing the power writing boxes for the childhood, the first paragraph, of our biographies.

Homework tonight is cursive practice. We finished our reading unit so no spelling this week. We will be taking the Gates test tomorrow and Wednesday. The Gates test assesses vocabulary and reading comprehension.
We also start writing out our biographies tomorrow. We'll try to write the first paragraph on the person's childhood.

Homework tonight is taking notes from the biography book. We made a place to take notes in our writing notebooks and students should have some reading material on their famous person. If your child doesn't have enough material then you might consider a trip to one of our local libraries to hunt down some more information.
