Homework tonight is a grammar page of comparative and superlative adjectives (it's easier than it sounds).
In math today we did some exploring with fractions. We also learned about condesation in science. Ask your child to tell you what we observed.
This afternoon the local firemen visited us and told us about fire and seatbelt safety. How do you like your child's new hat?
Have a good night.
Homework tonight is spelling practice.
This morning we started our chapter on fractions and learned about the numerator and denominator. We wrote fractions for shapes and sets. We also discussed voting and respecting other's point of view.
This afternoon we talked about cause and effect in reading and took our spelling pretest.
Homework tonight is spelling practice. Remember it's a tougher list of words this week.
This morning we went over yesterday's math test. Multiplying a ten by a ten (30 x 60) is still pretty difficult for many of the students. We'll keep practicing.
Earlier in the morning we looked at the results of our science experiment. Ask your child what we discovered concerning the relationship between surface area and evaporation. Ask them how they should lay their towel out to dry on a summer day and why.
This afternoon we took a reading comprehension test, went over last night's grammar homework page, and started writing a story about a snake, some cards, and a teacher. We heard some pretty creative starts today.
Tomorrow's Friday!
Homework tonight is a grammar page on adjectives.
We took our math test today and I hope to have it graded soon. We'll go over tomorrow.
We started learning about government in Social Studies. We learned a little bit about taxes and services. I told them that if they have any tax questions to ask you!
Have a good night.
Homework tonight is spelling practice. The words are pretty difficult this week so more time might be required.
Tomorrow we will take a math test on multiplication. Do you know if your children are practicing?
Ask your child about the science experiment we set up today. It has to do with surface area and evaporation.
Have a good night.
Tonight's homework is spelling practice.
Today in math we learned how to multiply numbers like 40 x 80. Don't expect mastery yet, it's going to take a lot more practice. We also took a social studies test this morning.
This afternoon Mr. Salzman spoke to the class and then we practiced using adjectives by writing a paragraph about a character from a book.
Tomorrow's Friday!
We have homework tonight: a math page practicing estimation.
As you may have guessed, we practiced estimating in math today by pretending to purchase items from a sale page. We discussed how often we use estimating in real life.
In social studies we read about a class election and even held a mock one in our class. Brayden was elected president!
We ended the day with a reading comprehension test and then writing. For writing we looked at pictures and wrote sentences with our focus on using adjectives.
Enjoy your evening.
No homework tonight!
Tonight's homework is the same as Monday night's: write each spelling word three times (they've already written it at least once in class).
We learned some more about Italy today and enjoyed speaking some Italian. Time for kids has a nice website that we used today to learn some Italian. Check it ouit here.
In math we learned the use of parentheses and practice our multiplication facts.
Ciao!
You get to play a game for tonight's homework. We learned how to play "Multiplication Bingo" today so your child should know the rules. Enjoy!
Ask your child about the result of our science experiment this morning. Which cup with the wet paper towel was heavier? The one with the lid or without? Why?
Ask your child how his/her writing test is coming along. They're writing a paragraph telling how two jobs they would like to have someday are alike and different.
Are you interested in seeing a mid-term report for your child?
Sorry I didn't blog yesterday. Our internet service was down. Look for tonight's homework later today.
We have some old-fashioned homework tonight: Write each spelling word (10 of them) three times each. I told them they have to do at least half of them in cursive. Do you remember doing homework like that?
We started a new chapter in math that will teach us the rest of the multiplication facts. We read about being a good citizen in social studies. Ask your child how they can be a good citizen.
Poor Seahawks. It's hard to beat the Steelers and the Zebras in the same game.
Enjoy your night.
Homework tonight is spelling practice.
We have two assemblies tomorrow. The first one kicks off our Reading Olympics. We'll be representing the country of Italy. We colored Italian flags this morning and learned to say "hello" in Italian. The afternoon assembly will be put on by Whitworth students and I'm not sure what their theme is. I'll have to tell you tomorrow.
Seahawks party tomorrow afternoon as well!
Good news! We did our homework in class today. Your child should be able to show you his/her completed and corrected grammar page this evening.
We took our math test today and had a lot of fun with science. Ask your child what we learned about ice today. Ask them what happened to the water in the syringe after it froze.
Take a look at the Book-It reading calendars that went home today. Since we're doing the Reading Olympics at school, we've added the chance to win a gold, silver, or bronze medal. (500 minutes = gold, 400 = silver, 300 = bronze).
Go Seahawks!
