Homework tonight is a spelling page.

A note went home concerning Field Day on the 10th and we also got word today that our school-wide Talent Show will be on the 13th.  Get those acts ready!

I hope everyone enjoyed their beautiful weekend.

It was delicious.

No homework again tonight.  We'll get back on track next week after all the biographies are done.

The biographies are going great.  Thanks for all the help at home.

Don't forget tomorrow's our big ice cream party at 1:30.

No homework tonight.  Go out and enjoy the beautiful weather!

The Biography reports are going great.  Keep it up!

Who's it going to be tonight?  Bo or Carrie?  We ignored Simon and voted for Bo at my house.

Homework tonight is a math page about means (averages) and medians.

We kicked off our biography reports with four very good presentations.  Good job, Aleya, Alissa, Katie, and Madison!  We're looking forward to some more good ones tomorrow.

We also had a bunch of banana and cookies delivered this afternoon for our ice cream party.  Some peanuts were also part of the package.  It looks like we're going to have everything we need for banana splits.

Who's it going to be tonight?  Bo or Kerry?

We enjoyed our traveling last week and appreciate the help many of you provided.  On Thursday we survived the Children's Chorus performance in the morning and were then revitalized in the beautiful afternoon sun at Manito.

As you know our Track meet was cancelled due to the heavy rains on Friday, but  we did make it up to the high school in the afternoon for the High School Choir's performance.  The Choir was okay, but the song selection was a little mature for the elementary audience.  I didn't see many kids singing along with "Rose" and "Phantom of the Opera."

No homework tonight except to practice your biography presentation.

The last book order of the year went home tonight...I'll be accepting orders till next Tuesday.

We still need some help with supplies for our Ice Cream Sundae party on Friday.

Practice biography reports for homework tonight.  Try to get some information on the notecards.

Our Field Trip is Tomorrow!  We'll leave the school around 8:50 and should be back near 2:00.  Don't forget to pack a lunch and be prepared for rain.

See you tomorrow.

Homework tonight is spelling practice.

The book orders came today...they were pretty excited about their new Star Wars books.  We'll try to do one more order next week before the year is out.

Check for the field trip reminder note in your child's backpack.

There will be a sub in the room tomorrow, so no blogging tomorrow night.  Homework should be a math page.

Enjoy your evening.

Homework tonight is a grammar page about prepositions.

Keep working on those biography reports.  Today we talked about various ways to begin their presentation.  Ask them which way they liked best?

All permission slips should be turned in by Friday.  Sorry for the number of them, it wasn't my fault!

Have a good sunny evening.

Tuesday, May 10, 2005

Homework tonight is a little different.  Rather than our usual math page, I'm asking each student to write a short paragraph about their biography person.  I want to see that everyone is on their way to getting to know their famous person.  So, the writing tonight is not the final report it's just a start.  (A cute stationary page is provided.)

In math today we learned about volume.  The students know that we don't need cubes, but can use the formula of the area of the base x height to find the volume.

This afternoon for social studies we talked about making economic choices.  We discussed the role price, opportunity cost, and scarcity play in making our buying choices.  See if your child can explain the term "opportunity cost" to you.

Have a good night.

Monday, May 09, 2005

Homework tonight is spelling.

Keep working on the biography reports.  Your child should still be reading and taking notes on their famous person.  Tomorrow we'll begin talking about how to give an oral report by starting with a good beginning.

This afternoon we learned about fire safety with the EDITH house.  Ask your child what he/she learned today.

Have a good night.

Thursday, May 05, 2005

Because of my error, there is no homework page tonight (I copied the wrong spelling page).  We still will have our spelling test tomorrow, so please find another way to practice this week's words.

See if your child knows what the words conductor and insulator mean.

Happy Friday Eve!

Homework tonight is a math page practicing positive and negative numbers.

Another field trip permission form went home tonight.  This one is for our track meet on the 20th.  Please fill it out and return it by Friday.

Ask your child about our science lesson today.  We had a great time making a motor run and learning how to make a schematic drawing.

One more thing.  Look for a letter concerning our biography reports in your child's notebook.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Enjoy your evening.

Tuesday, May 03, 2005

Homework tonight is a math page with practice on both the lattice and partial products algorithm.  Hopefully your child will do a wonderful job of explaining and demonstrating both algorithms.

Ask your child how their biography readings are coming along.  Each student should now have chosen who they're going to be studying and should be in the process of reading everything they can about their famous person.

The Washington Dairy Princess paid us a visit today.  She gave each of us a pen, coloring book, cow pencil topper, and a "got milk" magnet.  We're ready to have milk for dinner too.

Homework tonight is spelling practice - to be done in cursive.

FYI:

A permission slip for our field trip on the 19th went home today.  Please fill it out and return it by Friday.

A book order went home today also due on Friday.

We started our biography reports today by choosing a famous person.  Ask who your cild chose and give them the thumbs up or down.  I gave them till tomorrow to make a final choice.

Have a good evening.
