Homework tonight is spelling practice. I've started including three bonus words each week from a spelling bee list that won't count towards the grade. The three words this week are achieve, actually, and although. If your child easily learns this week's words then encourage them to try the bonus words. If your child is having enough trouble with the regular words then please ignore the bonus words.
Don't forget half days for conferences begin tomorrow.
As promised, the Social Studies test is homework. Most students finished in class, so checking answers is all that is required. Do pay extra attention to the essay question on the last page. The question was "What would you do to make your community a better place? Why would you do that?"
Enjoy your evening!
Please see the letter from our superintendents to hear more about the lockdown we had this morning.
Tonight's homework is a math page practicing mixed numbers.
Look for a social studies test for homework tomorrow. We'll work on it in class and then have you look it over tomorrow night.
Enjoy your evening.
Homework tonight is a spelling page as usual. Our spelling list is made up of all sorts of contractions this week. It will take some work to learn all these new words.
Our Water science kit was taken away today in order to be inventoried and readied for the next class. So we began our testing today to see how much we've learned. We'll start a new science kit after spring break - magnetism and electricity.
Have you heard that we won the Soup Label contest again in February? It's true and we get to have pizza and pop this Friday for our reward. You don't need to pack a lunch or send any lunch money this Friday!
Should we put a choke collar on those Bulldogs?
No homework tonight because it's like a Friday. There are 8 students who need to do some work on their creative writing assignment this weekend. Ask your child if he/she is one of them? (The assignment is to pretend to be a character out of a book and write a journal entry for that character.)
Go Zags!
Homework tonight is spelling practice. Don't forget that our final test this week is tomorrow.
In math today we learned how to tell if a fraction is greater than one halft or less than one half by looking at the numerator and denominator. See if your child can explain it to you.
This afternoon we discovered that soil absorbs water much better than gravel. Ask your child about the experiment we did today.
Have a good evening.
Homework tonight is spelling practice. Don't forget our final test this week will be on Thursday.
This week we're writing a journal entry for a character from one of the books we've read. Ask your child which character he/she is going to pretend to be.
This afternoon we learned about condensation in science. Ask your child what two things are needed to make condensation (coldness and water vapor).
I'll be at Technology meeting tomorrow afternoon. So there will be a sub in the room then. Homework tomorrow is going to be a math page.
Enjoy your evening.
ITBS testing is officially done. I hope the students did well, I know they sure enjoyed the snacks.
Homework tonight is a practice spelling page. Caution: There are several difficult words on this week's list.
We wrapped up another science experiment this afternoon. Ask your child how the shape of a container can affect evaporation.
Have a good night.
I'm still not a full strenght, but it's good to be off the couch and back at school. I am ready for a nap though.
Tonight's homework is a grammar page. Your child can practice comparative and superlative adjectives. It's so easy they'll be done before they even get home tonight.
We have only one more ITBS test tomorrow. The last test is on math, and then we're done with testing until we try the dreaded WASL in late April.
Hope to see you tomorrow.
Homework is a math page. Yesterday I noticed that the students were struggling with estimating so tonight's page will provide a little more practice.
This afternoon we discussed what good citizens can do to make their communities a better place. We talked about working together for the common good. Ask your child what citizens can do to make their communities better places.
We learned the capitals "H" and "W" today for cursive handwriting.
Enjoy your evening.
