As you know, I was out of the classroom all morning and was then pulled out again for another 30+ minutes this afternoon. Needless to say I did not accomplish much in the classroom today. By the time I got back in it was too late to do the science lesson, so I did the unthinkable and played a video.
There is homework tonight. It's to practice the spelling words for tomorrow's final test.
I see the Mariners are already losing 9-5...time for another losing streak I guess.
Tonight's homework is a math page just like last night. How do you like the Lattice algorithm?
Tomorrow in science were going to make some parallel circuits. By the way, I'll be in a third grade meeting in the morning and Mrs. Thomas will be subbing for me. I'll be back for science in the afternoon.
Will the Mariners make it two in a row tonight?
Have I missed something? Or is owning a cell phone now required for graduation?
Well, Tracey, what do you think of the new look? I needed to do something to stir up my interest for the rest of the year. It does have a nice "school" look don't you think?
Homework tonight is more math practice on our new multiplication algorithm called "Lattice Multiplication." The students really think it's great, and some who were struggling with the partial products algorithm are really smokin' on this new one.
The Mariners didn't lose last night!
Homework tonight is to correct and practice this week's spelling words.
Who will sweep the Mariners next?
I've got a bunch of correcting to do tonight (Help, Tracey!), so this will be brief. Tonight's homework is a spelling page in preparation for tomorrow's final test.
The Mariners are already down 3-0. It's only the second inning so keep rooting for a new streak to begin.
How 'bout those Mariners? Four in a row? Homework tonight is to keep rooting on the Mariners and in between innings to do the math page. ![]()
We revised our Home essays today and started working them down to 60 words. Tomorrow we'll pass out the poster paper and begin the final publication process. They are due by the end of the day Friday, and remember all the work has to be done in class. Do ask your child how his/her paragraph is coming along.
Enjoy your evening!
Homework tonight is a math page where students get to show off their new multiplication algorithm. We've had good success with it in the classroom the last couple of days. Hopefully you'll see the same success tonight.
We worked some more on our home essays and will move on to the revising stage tomorrow.
During science today we learned about conductors and insulators. See if you child can tell you the difference.
Enjoy your evening. Go Mariners!
Homework tonight is to correct the spelling pretest and beginning studying for the final test on Friday.
FYI: We are entering the Spokane Realtors' "What My Home Means to Me" poster/essay contest. The posters are due on Friday of this week. It's supposed to be an in-class project, but you can help your child by discussing what your child likes best about your home and encouraging them to draw a pictures of your house.
We will be working on the essay all week (we started our rough drafts today) and will draw the posters on Thursday and Friday.
Can you believe the Mariners have won two in a row? Don't look now but the A's are coming to town tonight. Will the streak continue?
Homework tonight is a spelling page in preparation for tomorrow's final test.
We enjoyed our science lesson this afternoon. We used these nifty circuit bases which made handling the wires a piece of a cake. Then we added a switch to our circuit and found ourselves able to shut the motors/lights on and off. Pretty cool! We also made a schematic drawing which should impress any electricians in your family.
Be prepared for another Mariner loss tonight. Can you believe they're off to their worse start in franchise history? I've got another apprentice in mind that I would like to send to Trump's boardroom. Can you guess who I'm talking about? Speaking of the "The Apprentice", I'm going to be up late tonight rooting for Kwamie to get the job.
Homework tonight is a math page of story problems. Many students started it in class today, so it might be finished by the time you see it.
We enjoyed the Middle School's band this morning. They played a melody of cartoon songs and songs from shows like Star Wars and The Lion King. Needless to say, they were a big hit.
This afternoon we discussed city government in large cities. We learned about representatives on a city council and the role of the mayor. We even acted out a little city council scene. See if your child know why a larger city needs a different form of government than a small town.
Enjoy year evening (that means don't bother to watch the Mariners lose again to the Angels.)
Homework tonight is a series of one-minute time tests. Students should become more familiar with their facts as we move through this chapter. Today we worked on problems like 32 x 7!
This afternoon we enjoyed another exciting FOSS science lesson. Each pair of students was given a D-cell, two wires, and a light bulb with the instructions to light the bulb. After a period of time, everyone successfully lit their bulb and we discussed the terms circuit, source, receiver, and components. The students are excited to make a motor run on Thursday. Will they remember what circuit means?
Aidos.
The first post-Spring Break homework is to correct this week's spelling pretest and begin practicing for Friday's final test.
In math we started a new chapter on multiplication and division, so you can always practice multiplication facts at home.
Another topic for home conversations can be city government. Today we learned about a town meeting and discussed the meaning of the terms citizen, taxes, and services.
Have a good night!
