I will be out of the room this afternoon and all day tomorrow. I'll be in the building working with the other third grade teachers in the district on curriculum mapping. My sub will be Mrs. Drake. I'll be around to answer e-mails and receive phone calls if you need to contact me.
I can tell you tonight's homework will be a spelling page and click here to read more about the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.
Have a good weekend and see you Monday!
Homework is a fun multiplication Bingo game. The instructions are included, no batteries required, only a deck of cards are needed to play.
Look for a purple letter in your child's notebook with more details concerning the ITBS testing next week.
Homework tonight is a math Home Link page dealing with multiplication.
Important FYI: Look for a note tomorrow night announcing the ITBS testing dates next week.
Good news! The FOSS science kits arrived today. If there's time after the testing, we'll start next week.
Tonight's homework is to begin practicing this week's tough spelling word list.
We began a new chapter in math today - more practice on multiplication. We will be learning the facts we haven't spent much time on yet like the 6's , 7's, 8's, and 9's to name a few.
Good news on the science front: Starting next week we get to begin piloting one of the better science curriulums - FOSS. It's a process-oriented curriculum which means a lot of hands-on and real exposure to the scientific process. I'm excited to get started. We might not actually start until the following week because I need the time to prepare. I'll let you know when we're officially under way. I can tell you that our area of study is going to be magnets and electricity. Scared? ![]()
The homework tonight is to write on regular notebook paper a paragraph on any topic. The last couple of weeks we've been working on making our writing more interesting by using more details and descriptive words. Hopefully you'll see that in your child's paragraph tonight.
Since it's a short week there will be no spelling. We'll get back to it next week.
Homework tonight is a math paper about geometric solids.
Mrs. Crabtree if you're out there reading this, then please leave a comment or e-mail me about the Valentine's Party preparations. Do we have all the food and drinks lined-up? I also wanted you to know that there's going to be a sub in the room on Friday. I'll be up at the high school learning the curriculum mapping software in order to train the other teachers in our building on Tuesday. I plan to be back for most of the Valentine Party though.
Homework tonight is a grammar page dealing with verb tenses.
Don't forget to sign and send back the bottom portion of the mid-term report card by Friday.
WE've also finished all of the lower-case cursive letters now. Next week I plant to require at least of the homework pages to be done in cursive. Be ready!
Two FYI items:
1. Homework tonight is to go over the Spelling pretest and practice all the missed words.
2. Mid-term report cards were sent home today. Please cut-off the bottom portion, sign it, and return it with your child by Friday. If you have any questions, please let me know. Do remember they are mid-term reports and the grades can change before the official report cards come out at the end of March. I hope you will find them helpful.
Have a good evening.
Tonight's homework is a math page from yesterday's lesson on quadrangles. It should give you a little taste of what we've been working on in class. Today we learned about regular and irregular polygons.
This afternoon we talked about the planets and learned the cursive letters "m" and "n". We only have three lower case cursive letters left to learn, so I'd like to see the students using their new skill on spelling homework soon.
I hope everyone saw the February Book-It calendars (our goal this month is 400 minutes) and don't forget book orders are due Friday.
Enjoy your evening.
Homework is to practice this week's spelling words by correcting today's pretest.
In math we learned about quadrangles. In social studies we're wrapping up our study of Ft. Worth and in science we're learning about the planets. Your child should be able to tell you all the planets and in their correct order.
Our current book order is due on Friday.
